It’s a wonderful time of the year and a season of new beginnings which for most is just what the doctor ordered. The first signs of spring have started emerging with the primroses and bluebells beginning to appear in the clearings of Parkhurst Forest. It won’t be long before the carpets of bright yellow daffodils can be seen throughout the Islands countryside and walks a glorious sight that we always wish would last longer.
The Butterflies start to come out of pupation and the White Admirals will soon be seen in the ancient Parkhurst Forest opposite our meadow…. a wonderful place for a walk out.
The swallows arrive for the summer and the lambing season starts.
All signs that Easter too is on its way and with that the hustle and bustle of the children as they look forward to all the fun that they’ve come to expect at this time of year. Our little Island has so much to offer this year. Did you know that the Isle of Wight is one of just seven destinations awarded UNESCO Biosphere Reserve status?
Many guests arrive with us on bikes and we are very close to the excellent Red Squirrel route. You will also find some other routes via that link. We have an outdoor spray tap for your bikes if they get a little muddy – again don’t forget ‘our’ amazing forest next door – popular with mountain bikers.
