As autumn deepens the Isle of Wight slows into a gentler rhythm and Tiny homes becomes the perfect retreat for those who love the quieter and wilder side of nature. Wrap up warm as the temperatures start to drop, brew something hot and step outside the skies and woods are putting on a spectacular display of colours and sights. At this time of year the beaches are peaceful and nature is quietly showing off. Here’s what’s happening in the skies and landscapes over the next couple of months and why its the perfect time for a tiny homes getaway.

Autumn is stargazing season! With darker skies and clear evenings you’ll get incredible views from your Tiny homes deck. Last week we have already been lucky enough to not only see the awesome Hunters moon but an unexpected sighting of a beautiful green comet .
- October 21st Orionid meteor shower – look east after midnight for shooting stars these are fragments of Hailey’s Comet!
- November 15th the frost moon – The last full moon before winter brings a silvery glow to the sky and forest.
- Mid Nov Leonid meteor shower – early risers could catch a glimpse of bright meteors streaking before dawn.
Tip: Bring a blanket . make a flask of something warm and switch off your phone for a while – the Milky way is astonishingly bright here.

Around the Tiny homes woodland, the oaks and beeches turn every shade of copper and gold. The acorns and chestnuts have fallen and the red squirrels are busy gathering and if you wander across the coastal paths you may spot the migrating geese overhead.
- Parkhurst forest a great place for autumn colours, leaves and red squirrels sightings.
- Newtown Creek beautiful at low tide, with winter wading birds starting to arrive.
- Compton bay perfect for a windswept beach walks ( and fossil hunting if your lucky! )
- Appley beach easily accessible great for dog walking with both woodland and long shell scattered beaches some parts wheelchair accessible. boating lake with swans, and places to stop for drinks and shelter, kids play areas, amusement arcades, and picnic spots .
After your day exploring, return to your home for the best bits of slow living. Warm up with some Isle of wight Cider or hot chocolate.
Try one of the farm cafes like the Garlic farm or Harvey Brown’s or even Arreton barns for a bite to eat or drink there’s plenty of scenic bridal paths around these spots too.
Whilst your at a farm shop you could pick up some pumpkins, apples and home made jams, perfect souvenirs of the season.
