Unfinished Business is the project of Pamela McIntyre, a Brighton based designer/maker curious as to what lies behind unfinished projects.
Following her love of fabrics and making clothes as a teenager, Pamela McIntyre began her professional career in the costume department of The Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh, age 17, where she gained considerable knowledge in the cut & construction of costume during her time in rep theatre of plays, pantomime and musicals.
Pamela continued her career at Glyndebourne Opera, Sussex as deputy head of costume for a further 11 years before taking over the role of Head of Costume. During this time, she worked on award winning productions with internationally acclaimed directors, designers and artists. Thereafter followed a freelance career working at prestigious theatres and opera houses in New York and throughout major European cities including La Scala, Milan.
Presently, Pamela is combining her passion for, and knowledge of, textiles, construction and design, together with her love of collecting original pieces of clothing and fabric, and is working with a collection of interior and fashion accessories made from existing materials.
Concerned by the wasteful, throw-away consumer trends, She hopes to inspire others to explore the endless possibilities and discover the joy and satisfaction of creating individual, stylish and imaginative pieces including by transforming unwanted, discarded garments and textiles into practical and useful, everyday accessories
Let’s explore the obstacles that get in the way of us completing a project and what we can do about them.
Come along with your incomplete sewing project and find the much needed inspiration and motivation to add some stitches
We will start the day in our Studio at 10am with some gentle Qigong movements to relax and clear our heads.
Then a coffee and a discussion on the theme of unfinished projects as well as a bit of a show and tell! Your project can be anything sewing based – bring your own machine and materials (although we will have some notions on hand and a couple of spare machines) and lets see if we can all pick up our enthusiasm for our unfinished business and kick start our creativity mojo for 2018!
