Midwinter Yoga and Storytelling
December 15 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pmfrom £45
Join Frances Hearnden and Steph Brittain for a Yoga and Storytelling workshop at Tiny Homes Holidays
Steph and Frances will be weaving the arts of storytelling and yoga together throughout the day.
Steph and Frances love to celebrate the union of storytelling and yoga. Creating a space of kindness and curiosity where these arts can weave together and help us to be inspired. The magical way a storyteller reveals hidden wisdom and takes us on a journey through the inner treasure of our body-mind, through vivid form, is also a kind of yoga. An uncovering of the richness of life, and a journey into known and unknown realms.
Frances will be guiding us in a yoga practice of movement, breath and meditation. Reaching an arm into space, holding a big toe, turning our gaze to the ground – with kind awareness, these simple gestures can bring inner and outer worlds in close together. Breathing in and breathing out our movement comes from within and creates a form, making visible the invisible. Practicing movement with embodied awareness can bring us close to feeling who and what we are, beyond fixed ideas and limiting beliefs, we can begin to uncover our nature which is deeply wild and free. This journey of exploring life, of uncovering our nature through breath, movement and meditation, can be rich and surprising.
Steph will be telling stories that highlight the themes of wildness and our wildish natures. Reflecting on how embracing the darkness and wildness of winter can allow us to feel aligned with the natural world we are a part of.
Myth, folktale and wonder tales open our minds and imagination and allow space for new reflection on our paths through life. Participants will have opportunities to express their responses to the themes of the day, through art, movement and story making.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting –
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things. (Wild Geese, Mary Oliver)
