Make Christmas …..
December 1, 2017 @ 2:30 pm - December 4, 2017 @ 11:00 am£224
Mrs B presents a jolly weekend of Christmas Craftiness
Mrs B is a born and bred Island girl, who has happily followed the ‘bungee’ tradition of Island natives – you know – the one where you always keep bouncing back!
After a fulfilling creative career on the “North Island” ( known as the mainland to non- Islanders!), that included photography, styling, festival and event organisation, she soon settled back into the ways of Island life. She fell in love, got married and in two shakes of a lamb’s tail there were three instead of two!
Mrs. B has always had a bit of an addiction for all things crafty, and loves nothing more than spending a few hours dallying around with her vintage handcrafted treasures.
Over the weekend you will make a selection of gorgeous crafty Christmasness. You may wish to venture into Cowes for a Saturday night out …. or simply cook a meal and relax in front of your log burner. There is lots do do on Sunday is you wish too …. maybe a walk in the forest or along a wintery coastline before cosying in the studio where the coffee pot will be on and the logs blazing …..
Day One (Saturday 2nd December 10am – 5pm)
Mrs B will guide you through the relaxing process of making divine air-dry clay Christmas tree decorations or gift tags followed by making a selection of Christmas scented organic soya candles using a delicious selection of essential oils that invoke all those wonderful Christmas smells. You will learn how to make soya wax poured candles. Soya wax is a relatively new and innovative candle wax made from 100% soya beans. Soya beans are a renewable and sustainable resource and are completely natural and biodegradable. Soya wax is non-toxic and non-carcinogenic with no pesticides, herbicides or genetically modified material. An excellent choice for those wishing to burn environmentally friendly candles.
You will make three aromatherapy candles and decorate them – they will all go home with you! The workshop will also cover, understanding wicks, health and safety, how to use fragrances correctly for an aromatherapy effect and design techniques.
Natural fire lighters. Pinecone firelighters are ideal for open fires, log burners and garden chimeras. These firelighters are completely natural and make a wonderful alternative to the toxic ones available in most high street shops. You will be guided through the process required to make a dozen natural firelighters with added essential oils to suit your own taste. These make a superb gift at anytime of the year.
Day Two (Sunday 3rd December 11am – 4pm)
Adding finishing touches to the air-dried clay tags.
Making willow hearts, stars and Christmas tree decorations. You will learn the basics of using willow to create lovely natural decorations to hang from your tree, to be given as gifts or to hang around your home.
Guest tutor for the Christmas Wreath session Sharon Rhind is a bonkers crafter. She is one of those ladies that just adds magic sprinkles to any crafting session. We are lucky that she is showing us all how to make a sublime Christmas wreath using all local natural materials sourced from her nearby farmland; including some of her own air-dried supplies.
